What Hypnosis Won't Do

I've been hypnotizing my daughter since she was ten. She's 32 now. Still won't do the dishes. Just so we're clear on the limitations.

Hypnosis doesn't make people do things against their will. I had the CFO of a major tech company on stage once — she was a great sport and one of the funniest volunteers I've ever worked with. After the show she told me it was the best corporate event they'd had in years. I may have mentioned, purely in the spirit of the evening, that her checkbook was right there. She laughed. The check did not grow. Some suggestions just don't take.

What it does do is create genuine, memorable, often hilarious experiences that your audience will talk about for years. Volunteers remain fully in control — they just happen to be very, very relaxed about it.

The Crossover

The paranormal audience and the hypnosis audience overlap more than you'd think. Hypnosis, past life regression, and paranormal investigation are all explorations of the same territory — the edges of what the mind can perceive and experience. Michael operates credibly in all three because he doesn't separate them artificially.

The part nobody else publishes

Most paranormal groups run a detector across eight hours of audio, keep the forty hits that sound like something, and show you those. Nobody runs the empty room first.

We do. Same location, same gear, same settings, nobody inside. If the detector fires just as often with the house empty, that number is the most important thing in the recording — and it goes in the write-up alongside the clip. Every file is hashed when it comes off the recorder, so the copy you're shown is provably the copy that was captured.

That's not scepticism for its own sake. It's the only way a clip means anything.

Michael is a registered nurse and a certified hypnotherapist, and he does not pretend the two halves of his life are strangers. But he is precise about the line between them: hypnosis is an experience of the mind, not a door to anything. Past life regression is a guided experience, offered as one. Nothing here claims trance contacts, attracts or opens you to anything — and nothing on the clinical side borrows a word from this page.
